In the early hours of Sept. 19 a sudden debris flow struck near the Shijia Gou
tunnel by Zhilouhe village, Gesala township, Yanbian County, Panzhihua, Sichuan.
The Sichuan provincial emergency management department mobilized Panzhihua city
and Yanbian county emergency bureaus, dispatched a working group to the site to
direct response, and deployed Wing Loong UAVs for communications restoration and
aerial reconnaissance. Local forces are conducting search, rescue and relief
operations.
