Baghaei, Iran foreign ministry spokesperson, said attending the UN General
Assembly is Iran’s "legitimate right," not a "favor" from other countries, and
Tehran will not abandon the New York diplomatic platform. He said Iran will not
send a false signal of détente; any diplomatic action should reflect Iran’s
strength and positions. Although travel to New York is "not attractive" for the
delegation, the UNGA is an important arena for Iran to express its stance amid
recent conflicts and external pressure. Baghaei accused the United States of
public pressure and visa delays aimed at the delegation, but said such measures
will not prevent Iran from attending and presenting its position.
