On Sept. 20, U.S. embassies in Bahrain, Oman, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar,
Kuwait, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon and Iraq issued security alerts citing
heightened tensions and an unpredictable risk of rapid escalation. U.S. citizens
in the region were urged to remain vigilant and monitor potential flight
cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions; those outside the
region were advised to reconsider travel to or transiting the area. Alerts
specifically flagged recent clashes between Houthi forces in Yemen and Saudi
Arabia and warned travelers to track airport and airline operations closely.
