Sept. 20, Hefei — China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said it will prioritize next‑generation intelligent manufacturing to lift industrial innovation, competitiveness and capacity. The ministry called for stronger original R&D and core technology development, expansion and quality upgrades of advanced manufacturing clusters, and accelerated AI+manufacturing efforts including development of open‑source foundational models and industry‑specific (vertical) models to underpin smart‑factory software and hardware. It also urged green, low‑carbon transformation, service‑oriented manufacturing and policies to cultivate world‑class firms and more little‑giant and single‑product champions SMEs.
