On the 19th, Slovak Prime Minister Fico said the Russia-Ukraine war is not Slovakia’s war and Slovakia should not be drawn into a direct military confrontation between NATO and Russia. Fico called for immediate peace talks, warned further military escalation would raise European security and economic risks, and urged a more rational approach to NATO’s Article 5 collective-defense clause.

Sept. 20 — National Medical Products Administration deputy director Yang Sheng said at a State Council Information Office briefing that during the 15th Five‑Year Plan period the NMPA will issue opinions to strengthen the drug safety responsibility framework, advance revisions to the Medical Device Administration Law and the Regulations on Protection of Traditional Chinese Medicine Varieties, and fully implement the Drug Administration Law implementing rules and supporting systems. The agency will roll out a drug and medical‑device standards upgrade plan, compile a 2030 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia prioritizing essential medicines, drugs covered by medical insurance and high-risk formulations, and step up standards research in frontier areas such as brain‑computer interfaces to drive quality improvements.
