Morningstar analyst Julia Specht said in a report that elevated UK gilt yields
ahead of the Oct. 28 budget could strain public finances. She cited structural
shifts driving yields higher — weaker long-dated demand, increased corporate
bond supply and rising market sensitivity to fiscal risk. She added that with
fiscal space already limited, yields remaining elevated could constrain policy
flexibility and affect key budget decisions.
