Industry sources say India’s soybean oil imports could reach a record in the
2025/26 marketing year as rising palm and sunflower oil prices make soybean oil
more price‑competitive for cost‑sensitive buyers. Increased soybean oil
shipments are expected to offset a Russia‑Ukraine war-driven drop in sunflower
oil imports and to limit palm oil purchases, which typically account for the
bulk of India’s edible oil imports. Patanjali Foods’ VP said in the current
marketing year to Oct. 31 soybean oil imports are forecast to rise 4.2% YoY to
5.7 mln tonnes, citing competitive pricing versus sunflower and palm oil.
