According to The Information, two sources familiar with the matter said that DeepSeek CEO Liang Wenfeng told investors that a major priority for his company is using more domestically produced chips to train models, and that he expects Huawei Technologies to begin delivering training chips to DeepSeek in the fourth quarter of this year. At a meeting on Sunday, Liang described using Huawei chips or other Chinese processors to train models as one of DeepSeek's biggest bets, stating that this effort "must succeed," according to the sources. He also indicated that DeepSeek expects to receive a new batch of Huawei chips in the fourth quarter of this year or the first quarter of next year to train its latest models, but did not specify how much Huawei could supply to the company.
