The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) will publish on the 24th data showing roughly 7,000 humanoid robots were sold worldwide in 2025, covering only industrial and professional-service humanoids and excluding consumer, military and medical units. The IFR, which has compiled industrial and service-robot market data for almost 30 years, will for the first time report a separate humanoid-sales figure. Under the IFR definition a humanoid must be human-shaped (legs optional) and capable of autonomous operation in environments designed for humans. IFR secretary-general Susan Biller said many 2025 humanoids are not performing productive work but are being used by research institutes and companies to generate data to refine AI models.
