Gulf states are calling to restart relations with Iran after the conflict
exposed their vulnerability to Iranian attacks and weakened US credibility. At a
UN General Assembly event Qatar’s prime minister called the US-Israeli war on
Iran a “wake-up call,” saying Gulf states must act collectively and maintain
good relations with Tehran. The UAE president’s foreign adviser urged Arab-Iran
dialogue and said talks between Tehran and Washington “have not actually made
progress.” The comments reflect growing Gulf recognition that, with Washington
mired in the conflict, regional states will likely have to manage post-war
relations with Tehran themselves.
