The IAEA said on Sept 21 that multiple drone and other military attacks in
recent weeks near the ZAPORIZHZHIA NUCLEAR PLANT have caused casualties and may
threaten nuclear safety. Incidents earlier this month included a drone strike on
a perimeter training center, an attack on diesel fuel shipments for emergency
generators, and repeated strikes in Enerhodar, where many plant staff live. IAEA
Director General GROSSI said he is "deeply concerned," warning the events
underscore the conflict’s ongoing risk to nuclear safety and to plant workers
and families and saying any attack on the plant or its vicinity is unacceptable
and must stop immediately.
