kallas said on Monday the EU naval mission in the Red Sea, Operation Aspides,
requires more than 10 warships but there are currently not that many vessels
available. She told reporters at the UN leaders' meeting that at launch the
operation needed at least 10 ships and that the situation has grown more severe.
EU diplomats said kallas last week wrote to member states requesting additional
naval and air assets for the region.
