Refinitiv on Sept. 22, citing two sources, reported that Chinese AI startup
DeepSeek will brief the UN Security Council this week on risks from artificial
intelligence. The Security Council is scheduled to meet on Sept. 23 to discuss
AI and international security. Industry leaders have urged in recent weeks
coordinated slowdowns in the development of increasingly powerful AI systems,
warning they could soon self‑improve and escape human control. One source said
DeepSeek and other Chinese AI firms, including Moonshot AI, have been invited to
make statements.
