President Trump told Prime Minister TAKAICHI in a New York meeting earlier this
week that he was concerned about yen depreciation, KATAYAMA said. TAKAICHI
replied that an undervalued yen is a matter for attention. KATAYAMA said she
will continue close coordination with US Treasury Secretary BESSENT on a range
of issues including foreign exchange. Remarks came as the yen returned to trade
near 160 per dollar after a five-day holiday, having weakened last week despite
rate hikes from the Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan.
