State refiners plan to raise annual contracts to boost U.S. liquefied petroleum
gas (LPG) purchases by more than 25% next year as disruptions hit Gulf supplies
and New Delhi diversifies sources. Sources say Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and
Hindustan Petroleum is seeking up to five U.S. cargoes a month of about 46,000
tons each, versus four cargoes under 2026 contracts; each cargo would need
equal volumes of propane and butane. If finalised, contracted U.S. LPG volumes
would increase to roughly 2.76 mln tonnes from 2.2 mln tonnes this year. India,
the world’s second-largest LPG importer, signed long-term U.S. supply deals for
the first time this year.
