On the 26th, China Three Gorges Corp said four cooling towers for the supporting
coal-fired power project at the Kubuqi Zhongbei new-energy base — China's first
10‑GW‑class desert/Gobi wind‑solar complex — have topped out, accelerating
progress toward unit commissioning. Wind, utility-scale PV, concentrated solar,
supporting storage and UHV DC transmission are being built in parallel. Once
complete the base could deliver about 40 bln kWh/year to the
Beijing‑Tianjin‑Hebei region, supporting the area's green transition.
