Ibrahim Khuri of Saba University in Marib province stated that, according to UN reports, over 5 million Yemenis have left their homes and scattered throughout Yemen, yearning to return home. Their families want to live safe and dignified lives. The internationally recognized Yemeni government has called for general mobilization as part of its counter-offensive against the Houthis. This call for mobilization is more likely to gain support in government-controlled areas, particularly in Taiz and Marib, where suffering is more severe. Even in Houthi-controlled areas, many would be willing to respond to the call, but would face obstacles and challenges such as fear of reprisal and the brutality of the militia.
