RAC says UK diesel reached a record 199.18 pounds per liter and petrol 174.13p/l
as the ongoing Middle East conflict has pushed up fuel wholesale costs. Diesel
is up 59p/l (nearly 40%) since the late-February U.S.-Iran clash; the prior
record was 199.09p/l in June 2022. Filling an average family diesel car now
costs about £110, roughly £31 more than before the conflict. Petrol is c.41p/l
higher since late February but remains well below its 2022 peak.
