Based on monitoring of 500 county markets and collection points, last week (Sept
21–27) China’s national live hog price was 11.36 yuan/kg, down 1.0% w/w; retail
Pork market price was 21.17 yuan/kg, flat w/w. Monitoring of 200 wholesale
markets showed average wholesale pork at 16.27 yuan/kg, down 0.8% w/w and down
15.7% y/y. Experts said concentrated farmer sales raised supply while retailers
bought cautiously, leaving prices steady to slightly weaker; the ministry
expects hog and pork prices to be mostly stable this week.
