Sept. 29 — At a State Council Information Office briefing, the Ministry of
Agriculture and Rural Affairs said it will prioritize both output and quality to
raise comprehensive agricultural productivity and secure stable food supplies
for China’s 1.4 billion people. The ministry said it will respond to changing
urban-rural consumption, stabilize acreage and raise yields, and ensure stable,
secure supply of grain and other key farm products. It will accelerate
construction of a diversified food-supply system, optimize crop mix, improve
product quality, and shift agricultural development from output-led growth
toward balanced output and quality to better match supply and demand.
