The expansion, worth tens of billions of dollars, comes as Asian buyers face the largest supply shock in years; the Iran conflict and a tightening blockade of the Strait of Hormuz have accelerated demand for non‑Middle East supply. Prime Minister Carney said Canada could help fill the gap and has listed the LNG expansion as a national 'nation-building' major project.
