Sept. 29 — The China Electric Power Planning & Design Institute in Beijing
published a set of reports including a first-time study on AI–energy mutual
empowerment. The report says Chinese energy companies have accelerated
deployment of sector-specific large AI models and had released more than 20 such
models as of June 2026. Firms are converting real operational needs into R&D and
product roadmaps by prioritizing high-value use cases, opening scenarios and
running pilot demonstrations. Development is shifting from model-driven to
scenario-driven, concentrating limited technology, data and compute on
high-frequency, high-value, quantifiable and verifiable business processes.
