European Central Bank Governing Council member and Bank of Spain governor
Escrivá said on Tuesday that policymakers are focused on the sustained rise in
global bond yields and elevated energy prices. He said current interest-rate
levels are not yet high enough to curb economic growth, but rising bond yields
could push rates higher and persistently high energy costs could trigger
dangerous second‑round inflation effects.
