BYD told shareholders at an extraordinary meeting on Sept 29 it views semiconductors and software as potentially more important than batteries in the second phase of EV intelligentization. The company said it has moved from lacking a battery advantage to achieving global leadership. It said semiconductors cut across industries and will be critical to cost and technology as EVs become more intelligent. BYD added it will not be merely an assembler and must master core technologies beyond batteries.
