A recent analysis released by the Congressional Budget Office shows that the war with Iran has cost the U.S. government approximately $38 billion and exacerbated inflation. The cost of the war continues to rise, with the U.S. government expected to spend an additional $2 billion to $3 billion for every month the conflict lasts. The majority of these expenditures, $21.7 billion, are for replenishing expended ammunition. Other costs include equipment repair or replacement, increased air operations and transport flight hours, and rising fuel costs. The report also details the loss of dozens of U.S. aircraft during the war.
