Goldman Sachs, after reviewing the interim reports of battery companies for 1H26 and 2Q26, pointed out that overseas energy storage (ESS) demand was the strongest driver of performance divergence this quarter, rather than domestic electric vehicle batteries. 2. In terms of data, global overseas ESS battery shipments increased by 93% year-on-year in 1H26, far exceeding the domestic growth rate of 49%; shipments to Europe and the United States increased by 70%-80%, while shipments to emerging markets such as the Middle East, Oceania, and Southeast Asia doubled year-on-year. Looking at different scenarios, global residential ESS shipments doubled year-on-year, while industrial, commercial, and large-scale ESS shipments also grew by 50%-60%. CATL, the industry leader, saw its ESS battery sales nearly double in 1H26, and its overseas order growth rate has surpassed that of domestic orders. 3. Regarding visibility, many battery companies have orders booked until the first quarter of 2027. Customer feedback indicates that energy storage demand will continue to grow by 40%-50% next year, and some leading integrators have already requested companies to reserve dedicated production lines. Industry capacity utilization remains high at 80%-90%. Entering the traditional peak season in September, production plans are expected to increase by approximately 50% year-on-year and over 20% month-on-month. 4. Goldman Sachs maintains CATL A/H shares as its top buy pick (A-share target price 565 yuan, H-share target price 947 HKD), while maintaining a sell rating on Guoxuan and Fuwei.
