On Sept. 28 in Beijing, an expert technical review meeting said revisions to
China’s National Economic Industry Classification are intended to implement
central directives and broaden statistical coverage of new-economy sectors and
emerging fields. The amended classification keeps overall standards stable while
adding categories for new industries, business models and the digital economy to
improve international comparability and to provide a more detailed, scientific
framework for national accounts and statistical surveys, supporting
macroeconomic governance.
