The State Council General Office issued Opinions on Developing Sports Events to
Boost consumption, directing upgrades to professional sports events and creation
of a clear, connected tiered professional-events system with refined grading
standards and stronger links between professional and amateur competition to
ease talent mobility. The document calls for vigorous development of
professional leagues in football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis,
badminton, ice hockey, baseball and go, and supports hosting high-level
professional events in tennis, sailing, boxing, snooker, auto, motorcycle and
cycling. It encourages domestic and foreign quality capital to invest across all
levels of domestic professional events, permitting the legal creation of new
professional competitions, and endorses activities such as talent training,
agency services and market development.
