EASA said on Sept. 30 that civil aviation safety risks have risen after Houthi
forces expanded attacks on Saudi targets and recommended operators avoid flying
at any altitude in the Saudi airspace areas it specified. It said Houthi strikes
on maritime, energy and infrastructure targets have increased in frequency and
scope since September, and that southern and southwestern Saudi airspace near
Houthi-controlled areas are particularly exposed. The agency warned that more
missile and drone strikes and increased air-defence activity raise the risk of
misidentification of civil aircraft, interception and falling debris.
