Eurozone manufacturing continued to strengthen in September, with the S&P Global
eurozone manufacturing PMI rising for a third month to 52.9 from 52.7 in August
— its highest since May 2022. S&P Global Market Intelligence said the upturn was
driven by stronger capital-goods demand, notably machinery and equipment, and
reflected rising orders for AI- and defense-related kit. New orders rose at the
fastest since pace early 2022, helped by exports, which posted their strongest
growth in over four-and-a-half years; the output subindex climbed to 53.6, a
55-month high, lifting business confidence to its highest since February. Input
and output price inflation accelerated in September, signaling rising
inflationary pressure; official data due Friday are expected to show headlines
Inflation rose to 3.6% from 3.2% in August, the highest since September 2023.
