Japan’s foreign ministry said Oct 1 at 16:10 Beijing time Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi held a 20‑minute call with Iranian foreign minister Araghchi. Motegi urged early de‑escalation and a diplomatic resolution, reiterated international calls to restore free and safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al‑Mandeb, and strongly urged Iran to take constructive action. Araghchi explained current exchanges with the US and Iran’s position. Both ministers agreed to maintain close communication to seek a diplomatic solution.
