Netflix (NFLX.O) co-CEO Ted Sarandos said overall growth “is not as fast as I want,” and the company is working to accelerate growth while pursuing initiatives that will weigh on the headline. Revenue grew double digits across regions, but user engagement rose only 2% in the latest fiscal year. To boost growth Netflix is expanding beyond core film/TV: roughly 5% of its $20 bln content budget is earmarked for live programming (about $1 bln) and the company plans wider theatrical releases for some big films. Shares are down about 24% year‑to‑date; management says rising content spend will slow revenue and profit growth.
