A spokesman for the internationally recognized Yemeni military said warplanes
carried out 20 airstrikes in Taiz province in the past three hours, targeting
Houthi operations, personnel, vehicles and military equipment. The spokesman
warned that if Houthi forces occupy Taiz unhindered they would effectively
control northern Yemen, strengthen control of Red Sea coastal areas and be
better positioned to push south toward Aden and southern ports. Six military
sources reported heavy fighting across Taiz; authorities have closed and
declared roughly 19 roads into the provincial military operation zones, including
the main route linking southern Sana'a with Taiz.
