CNN, citing two people familiar with the matter, reports President Trump is
expected to appoint Jay Clayton as an AI czar — a presidential adviser on
artificial intelligence. Clayton currently serves as Director of National
Intelligence. Trump said last month he would name an AI adviser and form an "AI
force" but provided no implementation details; this would be his second
cross‑agency AI coordinator. Venture capitalist David Sacks held the post early
in Trump’s second term and remains an informal AI adviser. The move comes as
leading AI researchers warn of risks, while Trump has repeatedly downplayed
those risks and opposed tighter regulation.
