Pakistan’s foreign ministry said on Oct 3 it summoned India’s charge d’affaires
to protest an Oct 2 incident in which personnel of India’s Border Security Force
shot dead two Pakistani civilians on the India-Pakistan border. Pakistan called
the use of lethal force unwarranted, rejected attempts to label the dead as
'infiltrators', and demanded a transparent, credible investigation, disciplinary
and legal action against those responsible, and a formal briefing on findings
and measures. Islamabad urged India to respect human rights and international
law, adhere to bilateral border arrangements and procedures, exercise maximum
restrain and take steps to prevent a recurrence.
