China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) said the country’s first offshore
CO2-injection enhanced-gas-recovery (EGR) demonstration — the new central
platform at the Dongfang 1-1 gas field — has completed main-structure
construction and entered commissioning. When operational the project will
sequester over 1 mln tons of CO2 a year in subsea formations, a material step
toward scaling deep decarbonization in China’s offshore energy sector.
