On Oct. 5 local time Rosatom CEO Likhachyov said Ukrainian forces struck two facilities at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant overnight, including a radioactive-waste processing unit, and that there is currently no nuclear safety threat. He said Ukrainian forces have systematically attacked the adjacent Zaporizhzhia thermal power plant over the past two weeks and that the TPP's equipment operation is directly tied to the nuclear plant's safety. Plant staff continue to secure the site. Likhachyov said the strikes have fully destroyed about 70 infrastructure sites in Enerhodar and damaged about 50, and that a vehicle delivering food to the plant was hit, killing the driver.
