On Oct. 5, Israel held a ceremony marking the third anniversary of the Oct. 7,
2023 outbreak of renewed Israel-Palestine fighting. Prime Minister Netanyahu
reiterated a hardline military stance toward Gaza and Lebanon, saying Hamas
cannot retake the Gaza Strip and Israel will continue to "eliminate" those
involved in attacks and hostage-taking, and that the Israeli military will keep
targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon. He accused Iran of threatening Israel via its
regional proxy networks and missile programs and said the Iranian regime is at
its "weakest" and will "eventually disappear."
