The Governor of the Central Bank of Iran stated: "We plan to gradually reduce the number of bank accounts in Iran from 650 million to 300 million over approximately two years. The more we move towards improving the discipline and transparency of banking transactions, the more positive results we will achieve. For example, in combating money laundering, we can use this system to reduce suspicious transactions. Many people have bank accounts that they may not even know exist, or these accounts may be misused by others without their knowledge."
