Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey held an emergency meeting of the Mecca
Alliance strategic political and defense committee. Saudi defense minister said
members agreed to act in unity and launch collective deterrence measures to
respond to attacks on Saudi Arabia and Islamic holy sites and to those
responsible. The Saudi foreign ministry condemned Houthi attacks on Mecca,
Medina and civilian infrastructure inside Saudi Arabia, saying Riyadh has sought
a political solution since the Houthi coup but the Houthis chose escalation over
peace and serve an "external agenda", inflicting further suffering on Yemen and
its people.
