grey, dense ash plume that drifted northeast; the episode lasted 135 seconds.
Semeru has been highly active YTD, recording 1,922 eruptions as of Oct 6 — the
most in Indonesia this year — while the country has logged 4,946 eruptions YTD.
The volcano remains at alert level 3; authorities warn against activity within 5
km of the crater and summit.
