China Railway Shanghai Group said Oct 6, the sixth day of the National Day
holiday, will mark a mid-holiday return peak on Yangtze River Delta rail with
expected passenger volumes of about 3.9 mln. From the afternoon, major stations
including Shanghai Hongqiao, Nanjing South and Hangzhou East will face
concentrated return flows, and traffic toward Changsha, Nanchang, Beijing and
Wuhan is rising. The group carried 3.84 mln passengers on Oct 5; since the Sep
23 start of holiday transport through Oct 5 cumulative throughput was 44.83 mln,
averaging roughly 3.45 mln per day.
