Lithuanian prime minister said on Tuesday the country would be willing to cover
construction costs for a permanent US military base if Washington agrees. Trump
said on Monday he would consider Lithuania’s request. Lithuania, an EU and NATO
member, borders Russia and Belarus. Since 2019 the US has deployed an armoured
battalion of nearly 1,000 troops to Lithuania on a rotational basis.
