[UAE Supports $2.3 Billion Railway Project Connecting Mines to Aqaba Port] According to UAE media reports, Abu Dhabi is supporting the construction of a new railway corridor to improve the logistical efficiency of Jordan's main exports. The 403-kilometer-long railway network will be able to transport approximately 16 million tons of phosphate and potash annually. These minerals are primarily used in fertilizer production, and the railway will directly connect the mining areas to Jordan's port of Aqaba. This line will replace the current reliance on truck fleets and aging freight rail lines, and is expected to save approximately $40 million in transportation costs annually. The project is part of a $5.5 billion investment framework agreement reached between the UAE and Jordan in 2023.
