U.S. Vice President Vance said Washington cannot determine who is making decisions in Tehran after the killing of former supreme leader Khamenei early in the war. He said the U.S. is engaging with Iranian President Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Araghchi but it remains unclear how much real authority they wield within Iran’s power structure. Vance added he has held direct talks with U.S. frontline commanders to assess battlefield conditions. President Trump made similar remarks, saying his biggest problem is not knowing who is leading Iran.
