FT reports documents show Bayer and farmers’ lobby Copa‑Cogeca successfully
lobbied the European Commission, which is preparing to relax pesticide
regulation. As part of a Food and Feed Safety Comprehensive Act aimed at cutting
administrative costs for agri‑food producers and boosting EU competitiveness,
the Commission proposes removing mandatory 15‑year re‑evaluations of pesticides
active substances and aligning some measures with industry calls to loosen bans
— a shift that would reduce current environmental and health protections.
