KCNA on June 6 carried a foreign ministry statement saying a recent landmine explosion in the inter-Korean Demilitarized Zone was a South Korean-manufactured stunt to smear N. Korea and shift blame. The statement called the incident an intolerable major provocation and accused the South Korean military of conspiring to portray N. Korea’s southern-border fortification work as a 'military incursion'. It warned N. Korea will safeguard its southern border with greater resolution and decisiveness.
