Vietnam said after seven rounds of talks since April 2025 it has largely completed negotiations with the United States on a reciprocal trade pact. Ministry of Industry and Trade official Ngo Chung Khanh said most negotiating items are resolved and only a few technical issues remain; Hanoi expects close coordination with relevant U.S. agencies, particularly the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), to finalize remaining points and pave the way for signing and implementation. Vietnam ran a $122.62 bln trade surplus with the U.S. in Jan–Sep 2026, up 23.8% YoY, the General Statistics Office reported. Vietnamese leader Su Lin said last month negotiations were progressing positively and the pact could be signed soon.
