Samsung's VD division has decided to procure Winbond Electronics' LPDDR4 and
LPDDR4X chips from next year, sources say. Certification testing was completed
in 1H; TV-chip reliability standards are less stringent than mobile, so testing
moved quicker. As Winbond is a new DRAM supplier for Samsung, supply‑chain
notifications and approvals are ongoing, and procedural negotiations mean actual
TV deployment is expected in 2027. Samsung's VD division is considering
configuring about 50% of its TV models with Winbond DRAM in 2027.
