Samsung plans to adopt Winbond LPDDR4 chips in approximately 50% of its TVs starting next year, according to industry sources. The relevant certification tests were completed in the first half of this year. Because the reliability verification standards for TV chips are less stringent than those for mobile chips, the testing was completed relatively quickly. However, as Winbond is a new DRAM supplier for Samsung, the process is currently in the procedural stages of notifying key supply chains and customers and obtaining approvals. Given that negotiations will take time, the actual adoption of Winbond DRAM products in Samsung TVs is expected in 2027. Furthermore, industry sources indicate that Samsung's VD division is considering using Winbond DRAM in approximately 50% of its TV products by 2027.
